Photography and Digital Media
Patricia Wells is a Student, Independent New Media Artist and Photographer currently based East Yorkshire UK working towards MSc in Digital Media at the University of Hull in Scarborough UK.Born in Saint Louis Missouri in United States, she earned a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute. Before moving to the United Kingdom she resided in Los Angeles California for several years. Patricia has had a multifaceted career that has always been a hybrid of art and technology. She has worked as a CG and camera operator for live video events, designed computer graphics for advertising and science and has created and maintained interactive exhibits for parks and other venues.Patricia has worked as the Director of a Digital Arts Center at Washington University in St. Louis, School of Art, providing instruction and a learning environment for all transmediale art. She has very recent experience as an Information Architect / User Experience Designer and much of her post graduate work focuses on Human-Computer interaction.Along with her post graduate work, Patricia works independently on photography, animation , video production and web design.Her current work in the arts includes a limited edition series of giclee canvas prints entitled the "Urban Mandala Series". Also a series of black and white digital "bromoil style" limited edition prints of Rome and the Greek Islands which were featured in 3 issues of Paraphilia Magazine. She was the featured Photographer of the month for Zoom Street Magazine, August 2009.Patricia is working on a series of soundart animations experiments in collaboration with Artist Brian Routh who creates the sound. One of the animations, "Persephone", was exhibited at MOCA, The Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art. This January, 2010 her video, "la la la la la", was featured in the OXHOUSE, An online alphabet made for and about the digital native supported by The Arts Council of England.In Spring of 2010, her video collaborations with Artists Anne Bean and Brian Routh, "'and Inhabited the Spaces", and "Adventures in the House of Memory", will be shown at Matt's Gallery, in London Patricia welcomes ideas for collaboration, and commissions for photography and video editing are very welcome.
